Transforming Gardens into Spaces of Peace and Well-being
For over 20 years and after qualifying from Writtle Horticultural College in the UK, I’ve been working with gardens—nurturing, maintaining, and bringing them to life across Dublin and Wicklow. I’ve always believed that a garden should be more than just a collection of plants; it should be a place that feels good, restores balance, and enhances well-being.
Over time, I noticed that many of my clients weren’t just looking for a tidy garden or a nice layout. They wanted a space where they could breathe, slow down, and feel at ease—a true sanctuary. This realization sparked a shift in how I approach my work.
My Journey into Wellness Gardening
Beyond my work in gardens, I’ve always been drawn to nature’s ability to restore and strengthen us. Whether it’s through cold exposure, breathwork, or simply spending time outdoors, I’ve experienced firsthand how the natural world helps us feel calmer, more resilient, and more present.
One experience that really shaped my perspective was a cold exposure session in the wild—standing waist-deep in freezing water, my body tensed against the shock. But as I focused on my breath and the environment around me—the wind in the trees, the grounding stillness of nature—I realized something:
Nature isn’t just a background to our lives; it actively supports our well-being.
That’s when I started seeing gardens differently—not just as places to maintain, but as spaces that should work for people’s mental and physical well-being.
